About these terms

These terms are the agreement between you and Wurder Ltd (“Wurder”, “we”, “us”) when you use Wurder. Wurder Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16808723), based in Bristol. You can check our details on the Companies House register.

They apply to the website at wurder.app, the web game at play.wurder.app, the Wurder app, and Wurder Discovery sessions. By using Wurder, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Wurder.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

Who can use Wurder

You need to be 13 or over to use Wurder.

If you’re under 18, make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to play. If you’re playing at an organised event, the people running it may set their own age rules.

Your account

• Give accurate details when you sign up.
• Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
• Your Wurder ID is public, so choose one you’re happy for other players to see.
• A guest account is linked to your device. If you remove the app or clear your browser before securing it with an email, Apple or Google sign-in, it may be lost for good.

You’re responsible for what happens on your account, unless it’s our fault.

You can delete your account at any time. See Delete account.

Playing fair and safe

Wurder happens in the room. The phone runs the game, but the game is people talking to people. Treat them well.

When you play, you must not:

• harass, bully, threaten, intimidate or discriminate against anyone;
• follow people, block their way, or pressure anyone who doesn’t want to play or talk;
• touch people or their belongings without permission, including taking someone’s phone to scan their QR code;
• go anywhere you’re not allowed, or break the rules of the venue;
• do anything illegal or dangerous to win; or
• cheat, including using bugs, extra accounts or automated tools to get an advantage.

You also must not interfere with Wurder itself. That means no hacking, scraping, overloading or reverse engineering it, getting round its security, or submitting fake event requests.

If someone makes you feel unsafe, step away and tell the Host, the Organiser or venue staff. You can also report it to us at hello@wurder.app.

Names and photos

Your display name, Wurder ID and photo are shown to other players. Don’t use anything that:

• pretends to be someone else;
• is offensive, abusive, sexual or hateful; or
• you don’t have the right to use.

You keep ownership of your photo. You give us permission to store it and show it to other players while you use Wurder. That permission ends when you delete the photo or your account.

We may remove names or photos that break these rules.

Hosts and Organisers

If you run a Wurder Classic game (as a Host) or a Wurder Discovery session (as an Organiser), you’re responsible for the real-world side of it. That includes:

• choosing a suitable place and getting any permission the venue needs;
• making sure players know what they’re joining and where to find our Privacy Policy;
• thinking about the safety and wellbeing of everyone taking part; and
• stepping in, or ending the game, if things stop being fun or safe.

Wurder provides the game. We don’t run your event, and we aren’t responsible for the venue or for how people behave there.

Access to Wurder Discovery for events is arranged with us directly and is at our discretion. Asking for access doesn’t guarantee it. Some Discovery arrangements may have their own agreement, which applies alongside these terms.

Scores and results

A Wurder counts when the QR code is scanned. Scores and results are what Wurder records.

If you think something went wrong because of a technical problem, tell us and we’ll look into it. We can’t referee arguments about what happened in the room.

Price

Wurder offers paid game licences. We show you the total price, including any applicable taxes, the player capacity, the licence length and any additional purchase terms before you pay.

A Wurder Classic licence starts when you start your first game. You can run further games under that licence until it expires, within the purchased player capacity and the time remaining. Each game’s length is set in the lobby within those limits. Paying opens the lobby; it does not start the game or the licence.

For Wurder Discovery, any charges and session limits are agreed with you before purchase.

If you need to cancel a purchase, request a refund or report a technical problem with a paid game, contact hello@wurder.app with your game or session code and purchase details. We’ll assess your request in line with the terms that applied to your purchase and your legal rights. Nothing in these terms removes any cancellation rights or remedies you have under consumer law.

Our stuff

The Wurder name, logo, game, missions, designs, software and website belong to us or the people who license them to us. You can use Wurder to play and run games, but you can’t copy, sell or reuse any of it without our permission.

If you send us feedback, you give us permission to use it to improve Wurder.

Changes to Wurder

We’re always improving Wurder, so features will come, go and change. We may also need to pause Wurder for maintenance or because of problems outside our control. We’ll try to give notice of big changes, but we can’t promise Wurder will always be available or free of bugs.

Suspension and ending

We may suspend or close an account, or remove someone from a game, if we reasonably believe they have broken these terms, put someone at risk, or damaged Wurder. Where it’s safe and practical, we’ll tell you why.

You can stop using Wurder whenever you like.

App stores

If you downloaded Wurder from the App Store or Google Play, their terms also apply. The agreement for using Wurder is between you and us, not Apple or Google. They aren’t responsible for Wurder or for supporting it.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit. If you use Wurder as a consumer, you also have legal rights that these terms don’t affect.

Apart from that:

• we’re only responsible for loss that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care;
• we’re not responsible for what other players, Hosts, Organisers or venues do; and
• if you use Wurder for business, for example as an Organiser, we’re not responsible for any loss of profit, business or opportunity.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If there’s a problem, please talk to us first; most things can be sorted out with an email.

If a dispute does go to court, it will be handled by the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Wurder changes. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change affects you significantly, we’ll let you know before it takes effect. If you keep using Wurder after that, you accept the new terms.
